The Gilded Frame

The gold is flaking from the wood,
Where once a royal portrait stood.
The canvas now is blank and bare,
Inside the dusty, attic air.

A frame that held a thousand dreams,
Now broken at the heavy seams.
A ghost of beauty, lost to time,
A silent and a wordless rhyme.
