FRIEND”
Can you look in the mirror, and tell me what you see
a friend that you’d like to have, or everyone’s enemy?
Does that smile that you’re seeing, ever warm your eyes,
or do they remain hard and heartless from the strain of all your lies!
That chill at the nape of the neck, and the shiver at nothing seen,
A gentle nudge from Heaven, or the wisp of a Demon’s wing?
Is your sleep sound and peaceful, or restless and racked with guilt?
Do you wish for the forgiveness of Heaven or an eternity under Satan’s quilt?
When you reach out to the friends you had and find all those bridges burned,
When your reality finally settles in, can you pay for your lessons learned?
What will it take to bring you back to the man you used to be?
or has that man been gone so long your mind can’t even see?
God has granted you respite, from the vengeance I sought to take,
the decision of your punishment is His alone to make
I still pray daily for the strength to let it end,
but few things cut as deeply as a betrayal by a” Friend!”
