Garden of Roses

The field’s fleeting feeling fills my soul,
Scattered rocks make the terrain and
Blossoming flowers turn life anew.
An old tree stands shoulder to shoulder
By a younger one.

Grass dances with the fragrant wind,
Waving hello and goodbye to anyone who passes.
Statues of saints, sinners, and humans accompany you
Throughout your tranquil walk of memory lane.
Skies forever blue.

Lying down, at a glimpse, I saw your face
Wistfully walking through the flowerbeds.

“How are you?” I said.
“Life’s nice,” said you.

We both lay down on the grass,
Looking towards the formations of cumulus
As the people around us enjoy living.
You bring out my favorite pastry,
We share it happily among other things.

Caressing your face, smelling your hair,
It all reminds me of the candles in November
And the garden of sunflowers we lie down in.
Eating our favorite sandwiches,
Having our morning coffee,
Talking about the day before and
the day we expect.

Night has come, the candles ignite,
Our descendants visit,
The flowers spread about us,
Our names etched on a rock,
And forever we lay

On the garden of roses.
